Shetland Performance Display Team Raises £1,000 for SCBU

The Shetland Performance Display (SPD) Team, known for its captivating displays featuring registered Shetland ponies, contributed £1,000 to the SCBU. This generous donation was raised from their performances at the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show and the Dorset County Show in 2023.

Personal Connection Inspires Giving Back to the Baby Unit

For sisters Delanie and Monroe White from the Portman Hunt Pony Club, the cause was particularly close to their hearts. Both sisters, along with their brother Royston, received care from the SCBU as newborns. Now, as members of the SPD team, Delanie and Monroe wanted to express their gratitude to Dorset County Hospital by helping to raise funds for the unit.

SPD Team’s Commitment to Supporting Local Causes

The SPD team regularly performs races, relays, and other shows across the South West of England, raising awareness and funds for important causes. This year, their support of the SCBU reflects a heartfelt commitment to giving back to the local community.

Dorset County Hospital Charity Recognises the SPD Team’s Contribution

Simon Pearson, Head of Charity at Dorset County Hospital, expressed his gratitude, stating, “This wonderful support for our hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit from the brilliant Shetland Performance Display Team is very much appreciated. Well done to everyone at the club for such fantastic fundraising—you are an inspiration.”

Additional Funding Secured from the Maiden Castle Farm Sunflower Trail

The SCBU also received a substantial donation of £15,400 from the Maiden Castle Farm Sunflower Trail. Organised annually by the Hoskin family, this event draws visitors and raises funds for local charities, delivering an impressive contribution to the baby unit’s operations.

Supporting High-Quality Care for Infants in Need

These generous donations enable Dorset County Hospital to maintain the highest standards of care for babies in need, ensuring they receive the essential resources and medical attention they require. With ongoing community support, the SCBU can continue providing exceptional care to the region’s youngest patients.
